1) Unity is a special case, and is far from the norm.

2) Games should go down in price over time. It is only logical in an industry where so many things constantly get better every year. I mean Blu Rays drop from $20 to under $10 in less than a year as well, and movies sure as hell aren't improving at the same rate games are!

3) Companies do this to make money. If they COULD sell them for $60 for 5 years straight while making a big profit they would. However most companies have figured out that you make A LOT more money dropping the price little by little. After a certain amount of time, if someone hasn't bought a game at full price they NEVER will. However they may think the game is worth half the launch price.



Prediction for console Lifetime sales:

Wii:100-120 million, PS3:80-110 million, 360:70-100 million

I gauruntee the PS5 comes out after only 5-6 years after the launch of the PS4.
