You're obviously allowed to take it however you want, but I essentially listed the personal experiences/observations that have taught me about the people of my country. It's not what I feel about the sitaution; I've just traveled throughout most of America, lived most of my life in the most international city in the world, lived part time in Europe, and have many friends from all over the globe. I would hardly call that being ill- or mis-informed, most expecially ignorant.

But that's why it's ignorant. You're taking your anecdotes and applying it to millions of unique people. While people may fall into groups, it's lazy and disingenious to say that everyone just fits the stereotype.

This is exactly why I mentioned the breadth of my experiences, so you would see that it's a wide swath of observations that constructed my perspective. Going beyond that, there are many, many polls available that independently bear out the great culture divide in the US, as well as the homogeneous demographics of many states. To address your response, I never said that "everyone just fits the stereotype." I said, "the trends tend to bear themselves out to closely approximate the stereotypes, " which inherently indicates that the data is aggregated. If that's your perception, of course I appear ignorant, but the perception is not drawn from anything actually said in my statement. I'm not sure that we actually disagree, because something appears lost in translation.
