What the heck are you talking about? Steam isn't the only distribution platform on PC. The tech was around before that and I don't even think steam allows it yet. Heck WoW wasn't even the first. I played and downloaded a game at the same time before the PS4 was annonced. My PC on my SSD installs and plays a 38GB game that quick. Next?

It isn't a hard thing to do, you just need to download your assets in the right order. Nobody said it's the best thing ever. But they standardized it and made it available on all games. ALL games, not just 2 or 3. That's a change in the market, not just random games doing it.

Of course, you can be quick with a SSD, but you are actually using a much faster and more expensive hardware to be as fast as a PS4 with a HDD. I could replace the HDD on the console with a SSD and it would be faster. Or I could use a 2TB HDD on the PS4 that wouls install games as fast as your SSD but with much more storage capacity and better pricing.

The point is: installing the entire game before running isn't as intelligent as doing it in an order that allows you to start playing before it's finished. It's a good idea and all games, on all platforms, should do the same. I personally am not planning to replace my 4TB of HDDs for SSDs and I would prefer that all my games could be played as they are downloaded or installed.
