I'm not going to defend those broken games but Id appreciate it if you grouped them by publisher, that kind of puts the OMG buggy games hype into perspective. Many publishers have released games that work just fine in 2014 so lets not act like there aren't any competent devs apart from Nintendo. Metro Redux [60fps], Far Cry 4, Wolfenstein [60fps], Dragon Age, Shadow of Mordor, Forza Horizon 2, Sunset Overdrive, Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes [60fps], Final Fantasy XIV Online: A Realm Reborn [60fps], The Last of Us Remastered [60fps], Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare [60fps], Guilty Gear EX and a bunch of others all worked fine on day one. The fact is buggy games are in the minority, the problem is that some of the most hyped games of 2014 were the ones with bugs, and all of those games were clearly rushed for the Holidays. I blame publisher greed rather than developer incompetence. |
Whether they're in the minority or not, there were a lot of broken games at launch. Ubisoft succeeded with Far Cry 4 yes, but they failed with their other big games this year. Sony did great with The Last of Us Remastered (it would be a pretty big fail to mess up a remake), but failed with LBP3. So if I grouped them by publisher it would perhaps seem even worse.
But yeah, obviously there are still developers with an almost impeccable track record. I like Naughty Dog, I like Santa Monica Studios, I like CD Projekt, Level-5, Good-Feel, Next Level Games, Platinum Games, etc.

Anyway, check out these reactions. Why do people that hate Nintendo so much bother to look up videos of Nintendo games? I never see Nintendo fans trolling PS/XBOX games on youtube. I thought Nintendo was supposed to be the kiddy console here...
