I just want exploration. Like, seriously, I just want to be able to enter a world and find stuff, rather than heading down a linear path. Literally every 3D Mario has gotten worse in this regard since Sunshine, and it's gotten to the point where I've all but lost hope for the series. It's cool that most other people like pure platforming with zero story and nothing but A-to-B level design, but it ain't doing it for me.
People crap on Sunshine a lot, but that game is where it's at in my book. I'll take a Sunshine 2, or preferably something new. Super Mario Adventure is something I'd like to see.
