Because Ps4 and Xbox one don't hide behind cellshading to everytime to make things look prettier. Cell shading makes low resolution textures look better. You don't even need high poly models you just need to say "this isn't low poly,it's our art design". Take MK8 for example,it's a gorgeous game, but if pay attention you will see low res ground textures here and there; you will see "Blocky" models here and there. But nobody cares cause cell shading make it look pretty. tl;dr If a ultra realistic game has low resolution textures or low poly models, people would notice. If a nintendo game have, nobody care cause cell shading. |
Yet Nintendo doesn't always make cel shaded games and they also have 60 fps. Metroid Prime 1 & 2, better looking games than the entire PS2 library, have 60 frames per second. Rock solid! Metroid Prime 3 is also 60fps.
Oh and have fun with 30 fps (and less) in LittlebigPlanet 3... A non-realistic looking game...
Ps: take a look at the ground textures on Sherbet Land for MK8. They're gorgeous. As are the ice walls in the tunnel. It's surprisingly realistic actually.
