Happened to me. I figured everything was fine as long as I kept it plugged in. I was wrong (to a degree). I was at work and I had gotten a new cell phone. I wanted to get rid of some of the garbage filling up my SD Card so I decided to copy the card from my phone to my portable HDD. Well, the power supply got knocked loose during the process and my HDD corrupted. Had to format it.
