One thing that I have not seen mentioned was that the Yen has been seriously weakened in the past year. That makes any sales of Japanese products overseas bring in larger profits. SONY could permanently drop the price by the 20% the Yen has risen in just the last 6 months.
Yet SONY has made such a huge deal out of PS4 sales that to drop the price would undermine their assumption that the PS4 is the clear winner and needs no other incentive to sell. This arrogance could hurt them if it continues.
