When will people realize that if they drop the Game Pad that it wouldn't do much for the price of the Wii U? Devs expect it, games expect it. Selling it separate will be it's death and that's just as stupid. The Game Pad isn't some alien tech that's very costly to make. Development may have been pricey but since that has already been done it's down to manufacturing cost. And guess what? They would have to integrate almost everything presently in the Game Pad into a new model Pro controller or sell it as separate stuff. Like for instance the gyro's and NFC capabilities. So they would need to redesign the pro controller and include it in the box. This raises the price of the Pro controller to make and the only difference with the game pad would be the camera, screen and Wi-Fi stuff. Anyone who things that this size and type of touchscreen, camera module and Wi-Fi chip cost MORE than 20-25 dollars in big quantities needs their head checked.

So to be frank, from a business point of view it's stupid to do it at this stage of the console life. They have more coming that's using it and it would need a thorough redesign of games, UI and other controllers to make some type of working solution. It's a cost/effort vs returns type of thing. And to be frank, Nintendo isn't a backpedal type of company. So accept it. It will not happen. No matter what games you play that don't need it. No matter how often you say you don't like it. No matter what they could do with the price of the system. No matter all thos things and more. It is here and it is here to stay.

To me the Game Pad feels awesome. I love it's size, weight and ergonomics. I don't have any problem with the battery either. I play for a few hours and take a break, I charge it in the meantime. I have my brightness in the lowest or the one above that and it lasts me basically all day. And the one time or two times every few months it does go empty I'll just plug in the long cable that comes with it and play on while charging. But for everyone like me that neither sees it's removal as a solution or it's design and batterylife as good there is some who will hate the shit out of it. Well guess what, this same type of talk was already there for all consoles in the past. Some people prefer A, some Z, deal with it. At least with Nintendo you have a choice if the game allows it. But is that a good thing? No, only people seem to be able to do is bitch and moan about it.
