For some games a re-review is necessary or can simply be helpful to put all information about a game in one place, however, sites like Polygon that went in and changed their original review, to reflect the online issues, have an obligation to go back and do another review, now that those issues have been fixed.
But, largely, the damage has already been done. Reviews are generally for Day 1/Week 1 buyers. I don't generally look at reviews months after a games release, I generally rely on other peoples impressions. So, in that regard, Polygon updating their score, means little because Driveclub already launched and the hype that positive reviews create, won't really effect its sales any longer.
