It's a very genius move really.

People are willing to spend more during the holidays so they stuck with their normally priced 32g bundles. When everyone's doing last minute shopping they release a cheaper bundle on the market, hoping to clear out old inventory that normally won't sell.

Obviously a smarter Black Friday bundle would have been better, but this is the best move to make at this point in time. They've already reported all of those 8g models that didn't sell as a loss, so even if they sell them at dirt prices it's a "profit" at this point. It moves unmovable inventory and makes a little money while doing it. There's a reason it's "while supplies last," with a color and model nobody wants.
