I'm in complete agreement. It's been overkill the amount of hype most 360 and PS3 games have gotten just because they had smoke and mirrors presentations years before they were ready to come out. Just look at God of War III. Sony just had to announce it, and for what? Just to build up hype where it'll seem like the game is taking forever to come out. I would not be surprised if GOW III is the big Fall 2010 title. Nintendo has been very good with announcements to releases. Mario Kart took less than a year from announcement to release. Almost the entire fall lineup from Nintendo is still secret. Not even a name drop for some games.

I thought the GoW III reveal was tasteful. They should definitely hold back on trailers/movies/whatever, though. Start hyping it more like 6 months before release. PS3 already has SO MUCH huge material announced and on the way that hyping GoW III, SotC II, TM ps3 etc. is just not necessary right now.
