As far as I'm concerned for every major evolution in technology we will then see the next decade refining, advancing, and tweaking that same tech until the next step is near enough to make that jump. We saw the evolution of mobile phones - we call them smart phones now. I believe the major pivot points to follow will draw us closer and closer toward integration and augmentation. The smart watch appears to be attempts to make people think they need even better or faster connectivity. I've seen design concepts of your forearm becoming the touch screen, then we have other alternatives like Google glass.
Technology sucks man. Its certainly going to be our downfall
