YES. the answer to that question is the  "Nintendo Difference". And the Gamecube was in a totally different scenario, the Xbox and PS2 didnt cost $400 back then, and the Gamecube was not following a 100 millions install base.

You seriously think that even 2 million people would buy it because of a price cut? Either they buy it at 200$ refurbished, or they don't at all. They won't discontinue the Gamepad anytime soon.

YES. I seriously believe that A LOT more than 2 million people would buy it because of a price cut. BUT, I do agree with you that they won't discontinue the Gamepad for better or for worse, and at this point all this discussion is a waste of time since we will never really know what would have happened if they had followed the other path so...
