Are PC publishers slowly killing Retail? latest games now on 6 DVDs and download codes

This is definitely not new, my copy of Star Wars Battlefront II a late 2005 game no less, is on 5 CDs. I still think we're quite a long way before Blu-ray becomes a standard on PC.
