It's not relative truth if the person thinking it things it's absolute truth. I think it's absolutely true that Zelda has the nicer visuals because of how I judged it. You valued photorealism therefore you judged Uncharted to have nicer visuals. According to two differing value systems, our absolute truth judgement varies. That does not make it a relative truth, but simply a preference based on two differing value systems. |
Nope. If I ask which seems prettier than that is purely subjective and any choice based on opinion is valid and true for the one choosing.
I don't value photorealism... I think Journey is gorgeous, I like cell-shaded graphics. But If someone presents me a portray of a scene almost replicating the scene and the other some kind of surreal picture I'm certainly will preffer the first. If someone do a replica with the same level of detail, lightining and everything else but only difference is collor palete I would have to see both to judge.
But UC and Zelda can't be compared on that because Zelda don't have 10% the graphical assets of UC. For me the comparison people do to always put a Nintendo game ahead (we saw it for Driveclub vs MK8, last gen we saw UC vs Mario Galaxy, and if we look almost all similar cases) indepent. For me that is like pitching something from renaissance to impressionism from someone like Da Vince, Michelangelo or Manet to a work from expressionism or Surrealism but quite unknow but good artist and says the second group is better just because it is more artistic, creative, not trying to copy reality... I haven't encountered in this forum anyone from Nintendo camp (you included) that says he thinks a Sony game looks better than a Nintendo game... some will say technically Sony is more advanced (some will dispute even that) but they will always go for "artistic direction" to justify. So I find hard to believe 100% of people in a group will preffer cell-shadding to photorealism with a straight face and not to uphold a company he preffers.
