Dev tools are significantly better this generation than they were the previous two, and it doesn't take 4 years to get the most out of a console anymore. You won't see much better than SMG/MP3/SSBB on Wii, Gears 2 on 360, or Killzone 2 on PS3. With this in mind, comparing "First gen" Wii games to first gen PS2 games is pointless. Obviously the difference between the Wii and PS2 in raw power is not the same as that between the Wii and PS360 in raw power. That said, the Wii's GPU allows for a lot more advanced graphic effects than any last gen GPU did, and with this in mind, it's probably not too far off to say the difference between PS2 and Wii and Wii and PS360 is about the same. |
I have to slightly disagree on the Wii portion. The games released so far have all been at 60fps. Chopping that in half will allow developers to push the system a bit further. I don't expect it to be dramatic, but definatly noticeable. Or am I wrong in assuming that dropping the framerate in half will give a large increase in power available for other graphical tasks? It won't double it, but 15-20% more power seems reasonable.
