4K is great, but in and of itself it is simply a way bigger resolution.  I am personally waiting for OLED (Or some equivalent tech) TV's so that not only does it look more crisp, but it also looks more vibrant as well.

I'm just not seeing the same excitement around 4K as  I saw around 1080p.  We will see though.

As simple as it sounds, the jump in resolution from 1080p to 4k greatly increases the detail of the picture. The detail increases way too much for my taste actually.I'd say the only thing that benefits from that increase in detail would be games.

e.g.: In some of sony's 4k remasters you can even see the pores in people's faces, trust me it is not the most pleasant experience when watching a movie,I can't even begin to imagine how awful 8k movies will look like...

As for games, the increase in detail makes everything stand out really nicely, and makes you notice even the most minor thing,it makes games look even better than on my 1080p OLED tv.

Dude I know what 4K looks like.  My brother (Whom I live with half of the year) has one, and my parents have a 4K TV.  I am well aware of how much better it looks, and to me it is amazing.  However more casual people seem to not care as much, and these are the same people who jumped for the joy at the sight of 1080p.

P.S. I watched Breaking Bad in 4K.  I saw Heisenburg's  pores.
