However, knowing Namco, I'm quite sure they have recycled all the rountines made for Macross videogames. They probably just swapped the valkyries fighter 3D meshes with the one of the characters, leaving all the rest untouched.

Sad but true. In the past two generations, mech games have all but dissapeared from Western shelves.
