I wish more games in the genre (survival horror) were like it. Instead, we either get too much combat or none at all. Siren has a great blend of little to no combat, very much like the early Silent Hill games.

I know, I know. I'm glad that the game features combat as a last resort method (that tends to be my pet peeve in some horror games nowadays, that feature zero means of fighting back when running isn't an option anymore); but it's just that the very first scene with Wright and the cop you're pretty much forced at a certain point to fight back, and I got my ass kicked over and over and over again until I got the hang of it.
