It can read Blurays  they just didnt exist back then so the drive just needs a firmware update.

Thats why glueing to PS2s together also gives you a PS4. 1 Single PS2s drive is to slow to handle PS4 resolution texture streaming from the Bluray etc but having 2 basically gives you a full PS4 console.


With the advantage of a driver with a read speed quite faster than ps4.
