It's much more damaging for the industry that big production value is crowding out good game concepts.
Think of it this way: For as long as there have been people showing their work to the world there have been other people hating on it. Is internet hate killing the moral of musicians, athletes, politicians, movie stars, writers, bloggers, dancers, celebrities etc.?
As soon as you create something that has wide appeal, you are going to get a bunch of people who will shit all over it. Persons who take that personally should definitely not put their work out to the public.
On an unrelated note, OP, have you ever spoken harshly online about the quality of Justin Beiber's work, the merit of Kim Kardashian's lifestyle business or other similar public figures?
