#30: Pokémon LeafGreen/FireRed (Game Freak, 2004) - GBA

The Pokemon game I've played the most in my life was Pokemon Silver: over 100 hundred hours, and the Pokedex was technically complete (missing just some Gen 1 and Gold Pokemons). And while I still love that game, it's this one that I find the most fun. I'll fully admit it, I think it's the nostalgia factor. While I still have fun with the series, I'm mostly indifferent towards it today - the series could die tomorrow for all I care. I find 700+ creatures to be incredibly overwhelming, but here, I just have to deal with a little over a hundred. And, thanks to the cartoon and the Pokemon OBSESSION every kid/teenager had at the time, I know all their names and types (the same is true for Gen 2, but after playing SoulSilver I realized the Pokemon "distribution" there is kinda lame). Like I said, I had fun with Emerald and Platinum, but seeing "Trainer is about to send X!", knowing who X is and what I should use to defeat it just increases my enjoyment.

tl;dr: I prefer Gen 1 because I'm most familiar with it, and Pokemon distribution makes sense, unlike Gen 2.
