Chrono Trigger (SNES, 1995)

guessed by TRAVIS!!!

Growing up, RPGs were never really on my radar. I gravitated more toward platform, action-adventure, racing, fighting, and shooting games. Only later in life did I begin to go back and play some of the RPG classics from the third, fourth, and fifth generations. This year one of those classics was Chrono Trigger, an exceptional game with a deep combat system, unique characters, and a bewitching soundtrack. The combat system, with its "tech" attacks, double and triple techniques, and area-of-effect attacks (all of them gorgeously animated, by the way), is particularly impressive. Although the game is relatively short for a role-playing game, the inclusion of multiple endings affords the game a high replay value. Chrono Trigger marks the second of five new games on my list.
