Exacly you have pointed out that this isn't a sudden spike leading to a comeback , but something that happens every year .
The difference this time is the NA sales lead PS4 has accumulated from the rest of the year is far greater than anything the PS3 did and the XBone's Holiday lead margin looks like it will be smaller than the 360 versus PS3 .
If it continues on from here in the same vain PS4 should win NA simply by virtue of it's sales being a bit more consistent across the year without losing to many sales during holiday , having said that it wiould be by a small margin and nowhere near 360's NA lead.
It really boils down to the fact that you can't make a definitive statement on yearly console sales to the year ends simply because of the backended nature of those sales.
