#31- The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
After Zelda II, Nintendo went back to the original formula for their third game on the new SNES. Link to the Past to me felt like everything the original Zelda wanted to be. More fluid movement and combat, more variety in the environments and a deeper story. The music, excellent like always. In the first two Zelda games I felt more like an adventurer but now for the first time I felt like a hero. For a 1992 release, Link to the Past still looks great thanks to the excellent spirte work. The game is packed with content too. Along with just the normal dungeon to dungeon gameplay the game encourages you to explore the world to find hidden items and weapons to aid you on your quest, along with some minigames to break up the action. The dungeons too are designed very well, some of the best in the series, and the key to beating the bosses is not always just using the item from that specific dungeon. The bosses are also creative, fun and I think take good advantage of the new hardware.
