It does look nice and I'll admit Windows has come a long way in the last few years, but after all the BS I endured with Windows XP, I'm just not ready to trust them again yet.

:o windows xp was flawless, take that back! or... at least after SP1 it was. What was the issues you had with it out of interest Nova?

Flawless? After installing sp3 I could throw my father in law's old pc away, stuck in an endless reboot cycle, no way to undo. A known problem, I found out later, with certain processors that was never fixed. And since he couldn't find the original installation discs anymore, and no backup ofcourse, it was done.
Plus nothing but trouble trying to get XP to communicate with Windows NT reliably, then vista. I resorted to using thumb drives to move files.

At least XP booted fast and 'only' used 200MB memory, as opposed to the resource hogs that came after.

My windows 7 pc is dying atm. I get random blue screens a little bit after startup. Interrupts that are not received or general machine check errors. Please disconnect any new hardware and try again, no more info. Sometimes it just freezes altogether, mouse light and keyboard lights turn off, and the only solution is to pull the plug.

My wife has a Windows vista laptop that has been getting worse over time.

I use a Windows 8 laptop that has been very stable so far. Except for vgchartz regularly freezing in Firefox with this script seems busy, debug or cancel. Then it happens again right away until I manage to close the offending browser window. And Civilization beyond earth not willing to minimize / suspend on alt-tab, making navigating the desktop very difficult and sluggish.
