Right out of the gate Microsoft advertised their platform as a media device for everyone and exhibited a disturbing desire to shape how we all interact with our games whether we like it or not. Right out of the gate Sony advertised their platform as a game system that plays games for gamers, and exhibited their desire to have the best damn development platform possible. Regardless of what games they have lined up and what they've been trying to do to put a band-aid on the situation, I feel that Microsoft only wants to damage the industry at our expense, as per Western corporate philosophy. Sony isn't perfect either, but for the most part they just want to make games and sell them to us. For our sakes I hope PS4 wins. |
Thats kind of what Sony did with the PS2, have we already forgotten? The Gamecube was panned for only being a gaming device while the PS2 sold on the fact that it was advertised as a multi media device, even if games were still first. Seriously, back then everyone was convinced that gaming devoted devices were a thing of the past, you could argue they are, but the way Xbox One was treated, I wouldn't say so. Had Microsoft launched something like the XO back then it would have sold gangbusters, same goes if Nintendo had launched something like the GC now, but hey times change and I love contrasting the difference in consumer mentality (yes, this was quite off topic).
