Whether modern phones are more  powerful is kind of irrelevant because developers simply aren't going to utilise  that power. 

If i really want to play a shooter, I'll go on my Xbox 360 (or you know, Modern Combat 5: Blackout). I have a 3DS and I'm loving that.

You can't carry your xb360 with you. That's the whole point of that game: making a viable console fps experience on a handheld. And it was very well done, nothing to brag about.
