I agree with you that is why Shadow of Colossus is not a game like many others it is just some kind of boss battles collection. Metal Gear Solid is also some kind of interactive movie much like Dragon`s Lair. Well considering that the game can be finished under 2 hours skiping all cutscenes and that there is 10+ hours of codec conversation and movies (3:30 on the first Metal Gear) it a non game in the classic definition of game. We can call it a interactive movie with short breaks for boss battles with you want.
