#32 - Mega Man 4

Also known as "They nerfed Rush Jet! Those bastards!" Mega Man 4 is my favourite of the NES series. The gameplay is mostly unchanged from Mega Man 2 and 3. You jump and shoot but Mega Man has now a slide from MM3 and also a charged up shot. Mega Man 4 also has a new villian. Dr. Cossack! So instead of just one castle at the end of the game, you get two! The music is great and the graphics are some of the best on the NES. The robot masters are great, most of them are pretty interesting and their attack patterns aren't as simple as in Mega Man 2 and 3. Pharaoh Man especially is my favourite. The weapons all have their uses and are unique in their own way, I can't think of a single weapon in this game that I would consider useless. Also the level design is more balanced, there are no "Quick Man levels" and the difficulty is challenging but fair.

You just have to look at Toad Man to realize that

That's why I said "most" xD. Toad Man's boss fight is pretty poor in general because if you don't hit him he is just going to hit you with his all-screen Rain Flush. Ring Man and Pharaoh Man definitely make up for it though.
