Back when I was 12 gore was hardly as graphic as it was now. I played goldeneye, eternal darnkess and GTA3 with no problems. But I certainly feel there would be far more impact with the image quality we have today. Id probably turn a blind eye but I wouldn't say yes to the OPs question, mostly because parents like that would probably come back and abuse you once they actually see what the game contains lol

Generally most Mature rated games are pretty light on the blood and gore, probably around the level of a PG 13 movie and to that I have no problem with.  There seems to be  a lot of variation in how graphic content can be once it's rated M which is why I think the ESRB system as is, is pretty flawed when games like Halo and Call of Duty are rated the same as games like The Evil Within or Mortal Kombat.

Ah, see in AU you we have M for mature games that are fairly light on blood and gore like Halo, Zelda Twilight princess, Monster hunter ect. MA15+ is the restricted games that require ID and theyre more violent/gory. Then stuff like the Evil within which I believe got R18+.

So yeah based on our ratings Evil within is definately a cut or two above most mature games.
