It might somewhat depend on whether Sony really wants to put the boot into Xb one and Wii U, or whether they are happy to merely be the biggest globally by a substantial margin and be roughly even with Xb one in the USA. If they want the be at least somewhat dominant in the USA then $299 will have to come in 2015, because guaranteed Xb one will be officially $299 some time in 2015.
