This much space to ensure it doesn't overheat is a gross overreaction.
Why not use more efficient parts or enclosures?
The metal dividers and and enclosures in the ps4 and wiiU act as heat dissipation. It's like a heatsink that transfers and spreads the heat out instead of concentrating it. Most pcs utilize a similar structure for cooling.
Saying 'it was to ensure it doesn't Overheat' is only really half the story. It was to ensure it doesn't overheat while at the same time allowing them to use off the shelf parts, no customization, and a cheap slimline as early as possible.
I would imagine ms has 2 slimline versions down the line, if not more.
Like...why aren't their tablets or laptops oversized? How is it every other product they make is heat efficient, minimal, and creative? They said the design cost billions in R&D. But where is it?
