Why would you be likely to sell "far more copies" on PS4? It's not as if someone with a PS4 won't be interested in buying the game for PS4 just because they saw an Xbox One ad. Madden had Xbox One ads yet still sold on PS4. Same with FIFA. Same with CoD. Same with Ass Creed. Would those games have sold "far more" on PS4 than they did if the advertisements were for the PS4? No.

It's a win/win for the publishers of the games no matter if they take money from Microsoft or Sony. Their games are going to sell the same regardless, and it's free advertising.
