I don't think it copied OOT too much, it had its own seperate feel. It was way darker than OOT and was the first Zelda to introduce motion controls, ofc they ironed out some kinks the second time around but I can appreciate what they were trying to do on their first try. Also I enjoyed wolf link, it added a nice change and I really liked the integration in the last boss fight.
You talk about those collecting bug parts as wolf link boring, if I remembering the right thing, that was not required, where as collecting the tears in skyword sword was required, and tbh I was not a big fan of that. Not saying Skyword Sword was bad, it had my favorite cutscene in all the Zelda games.
