An named Hiroshi Yamauchi tells you why. You should read How Mario conquered America. It provides great insight to why Yamauchi was very strict. Also, buying Capcom would be awesome. They were one of the only Japanese third parties who cared about Nintendo enough to make games during the N64-GCN period.

Oh, I know that it was more or less Yamauchi himself who was being the dick ;) His legacy still lingers over Nintendo, for good and for bad
