The price point of the arcade is irrelevant because the consumer doesn't believe it's good value for money , this is evident in the arcades sales performance in comparison to the other SKU's.

The Wii is completley different , you get the whole nintendo experience at a killer price point , reliable hardware , good selection of casual games. The kind of people that pay for a wii @ £170 and the kind of people that pay for a 360 @ £300 are genaraly different kinds of people.

 

There's absoloutley no way that the Wii could have outsold either the PS3 or the 360 whilst launching with a similar price point to the PS3 , the Wii's price point is representative of it's value , increase the price point beyond the point of it's actual value and it's demand will plummet.

 The Wii is very price elastic.
