The first Resistance uses CGI in some cutscenes, for example, when Hale first sees the main power module towards the end.

It was rarely used, but it was used.

 

This is CGI, the particles in the explosions cant look like that in real time... besides, the water looks procedural.

 If you think the teaser is CG for some reason, then you really have no clue what procedural means.
