Nintendo has a lot of money on their sleeve and only focusing on gaming unlike Sony when they had the trouble with PS3. So 3rd party problem should be solved like how PS3 problem with their price and brand image.

physically yes it can be turn from vertical to horizontal like PS3

seriously, alot of people had a doubt on PS3  during 7th generations era, or i can say no one is able to predict how PS3 able to turn the table,especially when considering how the condition of SONY as a corporate as awhole.But Nintendo it has bigger chance then SONY with their PS3, i am not saying they can turn the table  but i am saying to early to tell. The same can be said to PS4. But Wii U is to close with Xbox one in terms of sales for now.
