And looking at other articles that report the number of Xbox Live accounts, they are merely referred to as "Xbox Live members".

To tell you the thruth... it is confusing. I think they want to say active online users without revealing Gold subs to competition.

I'll give you that.

Edit: However, I still think X360 had the biggest online user community. And according to the source I posted, most of the revenue was from marketplace and not the subs. In the last quarter of 2012, Xbox division announced over $4 billion in revenue. I don't know how muchin profit though.
