Typically a man is bigger and stronger, in this case, you can't hit the woman, but you can restrain her until she calms down. If you're a small guy and it's a big woman you can hit all you want. Really, it doesn't have anything to do with being a man or a woman, just a big person and a small person. A large, strong man doesn't have any more right to hit a woman than he does to hit a small, weak man.
