If certain consoles can't acheive 1080p now, what happens in a couple years?

As technology to make games increases so will games and consoles abilities. Engines will get better to handle it and I think in 3 to 4 years, 1080p with 60 will be easy (as easy as making a computer game is). but resolution isn't all that, games will look better because technologies to make games will make them look better, I mean Uncharted was 720p and so was Uncharted 3, 3 looks a lot better graphically.
