Correct me if I'm wrong, but Versus XIII was announced before the airing of the first season of Naruto ( in which Sasuke was still a kid and the design was different)

I don't remember when Shippuuden actually started (nor the manga or the anime), but I'm pretty sure it was way before Versus 13 too.

Ah yes, Naruto is old. It is the anime of Naruto Shippuuden that was started in 2007 according to Wikipedia.
