They're either long with deep gameplay, but simple 2d graphics and text dialog, or if the production value is there, they are limited by its length and/or simple gameplay. They basically can't deliver the whole package because of budget limitations. |
Zeno Clash, Legend of Grimrock, Machinarium, Amnesia, Serious Sam, Dust: An Elysian Tail, almost everything Double Fine has done (which includes Brütal Legend, Psychonauts, Stacking...), unreleased The Witness from Braid creator, Dementium games, Riddick's Escape from Butcher Bay and Dark Arena, The Banner Saga, Mount & Blade, Flower, Journey... those are the ones I can think of, but certainly there's "more than one".
No Man Sky is another adition, but no one can tell if that one will turn good.
