By your logic, the PS3 failure rate is 2-4% for the HDD issues, IN ADDITION TOO the error code which has nothing to do with hardware.

"Despite the problem being unrelated to the hardware, your system will apparently still need replacing if the error occurs."

hahaha. Ok, how in the world can it get an error, and it have NOTHING to do with hardware? That might be the dumbest thing I have ever heard.

I guess if you are updating your firmware, and the power goes out or something, it could cause the update to fail, but that's not a build issue with the PS3. It's like saying it's ASUS's fault if you lose power while your flashing the BIOS.

But thanks for coming to the defense of the PS3 once again. According to starcraft, there are no hardware issues with respect to that error.

Another one who thinks the PS3 is bullet proof! :)

Though I am constantly flattered by your regular crediting of me with deep industry links and insider information, I cannot take credit for this claim.  It actually comes from the numerous sites that are reporting on this story, like for example the one I linked too.  But of course, its not like you to actually do research before you start a thread like this is it now?  And for a self-proclaimed software developer, I find it incredible that you think a system crashing always has to have something to do with hardware.  Wasn't it you and ssj12 bashing Vista the other day?

According to TheRealMafoo, every time in history that Windows has crashed on you, it was the hardware.  Call Microsoft and apologise for all the verbal abuse and written complaints you sent their way people.

Carry on.
