Which generation had the best first year, software-wise?

Gamecube, Xbox, PS2.
Honestly don't remember all fo them off the top of my head but in various threads ive seen some pretty highly recognized titles that went on to become big franchises.

Halo, SSBM, and ICO (im pretty sure) pretty much trump the first year of this gen alone for quality.
