Add the price of an external harddrive if you want to download any significant amount of DLC or other downloadable content...
and well, you get a machine even worse specced than the XB1...
But you gain access to the Nintendo titles! yay!
As for the number of people paying for PS+/Live Gold... well Sony has about 7 million users I believe (maybe less) and this includes PS3/4 as well as Vita and maybe even some PSP users! so this is far below 50%.
Yes, stronger hardware cost more, the online services charging for online play is a bit arbitrary, especially for games that rely on p2p to run their matches :-/ and those who have dedicated servers .. those servers are not necessarily handled by the platform owners... what can I say? well... I don't do MP, so let some other people argue about the merits of this charging.
