I care. Though I'm not saying I wont buy games with bad reviiews just out of interest...
Many here say games are too complex nowadays, I have no doubts about it, but why not release the game only when it's properly finished? I'll tell why, this is a fierce industry with growing agressive tactics.
For instance the AC:U, which I have no doubts it will get properly patched, would it have sold as good if they'd release it mid December? I mean, it would release a monte later with no/less bugs (and better public opinion) but they would have Far Cry, GTAV, LBP, Halo MCC, SSB, etc, with a month out eralier stealing sales. Not to mention Xmas sales in general (people overspend sometimes, so its better to sell the game in Nov than i Dec after peoplealready spent a lot of Money). Laso you have Black Friday X1 bundles. They dind't want to miss out on those so they were like: relaease it now patch it later.
I agree with OP though, early reviews may not be very accurate a few months later. That's why I wait for reviews, at least they'll tell me how the game is at the moment so I buy it/don´t buy it then or maybe buy it later.
I don't like pre ordering in part because of this. However there are a few companies, such as Nintendo, Rockstar, Naughty Dog, Platinum, that given their quality standards I wouldn't mind doing it.
