Clarifying console prices

I have always found this kinda reasoning flawed.

If I buy wiiU, hook it up to my TV (that isn't a smart TV) and its my only way of getting netflix. And getting netflix was one of the reasons I got the wiiU. Then I ownthat wiiU for five years with five years of netflix. Does that mean my wiiU cost me $775?

What about the internet connection I am paying for? Should I tack on the price of that too? After all I can't even go online without paying for internet right?

No. I do not agree that the price of a console should include things that are optional or that have more value than any one purpose. PS+ isn't just for online, it also gives you discounts and gives you free games. Should we then add up all the games you get for free on PS+ and then subtract that from the combined cost of owning the console and the service? I mean if we were to use this very same kinda of "mandatory reasoning", then we should add that everyone that pays for PS+ will come to learn that they get free games. 24 of them for the PS4 alone in a year. Should the cost of those free games be factored in as well and subtracted from the cost of the console and the service across over 5 years?

No, it makes as little sense to do for the same reason it makes no sense adding the cost of an optional service to the console. If you want to play online, then PS+ has value for you. If you don't but want free games... again it has value for you. If you don't want either, then none of any of this matters.
